Pilgrim's Dogs

"I had no idea that two dogs, a Mastiff and an English Springer Spaniel, were aboard the Mayflower. They are mentioned in records of the settlement of Plymouth Colony written by Edward Winslow in 1622. They seemed to have belonged to John Goodman and probably had pet names, but none are given. "

You can read about some of their adventures at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mosmd/pilgdogs.htm

Setting a bad example!

* * *
Lia: Oh no...I knew someday someone would do this...I was just hoping it wasn't going to be anyone we knew.
.
Zoe: What?
.
Lia: Did you see Teddy Hickson on his walk?
.
Zoe: Lia - he lives 15 miles from here.
.
Lia: In the PICTURE! Go look at the camerafone.
.
Zoe: Whoa! That's unfortunate!
.
Lia: UNFORTUNATE? Are you nutz? That's......that's.....um....well...not FAIR.
.
Zoe: Ya, but I think he has a good sense of humor - he's ok.
.
Lia: Then I don't have a good sense of humor and I'll protest - that's just yucky!
.
Zoe: But it's ok for Mommy to carry your poop?
.
Lia: Like she always has...
.
Zoe: I think she has a different idea now!

Lia: I need Teddy's Mommy's phone number. This is just wrong.

Zoe: (...wait till your walk tonite!...)

Mommy playing in Photoshop

* * * * *

Lia: Ewwww...what happened to your color?

Zoe: Mommy. She's playing in Photoshop again - it changes the images...last evening she felt like doing something 'vintage' - do I look like an antique?

Lia: You look like a washed out brown-pinkish dirty looking dog.
.

Zoe: Yes. Antique. Very good.
.

Lia: Very ugly.
.

Zoe: (...wait till you see what she has planned for you - neon-brain...)

Role Reversals....

One of our very favorite blog sites is written by Heather Armstrong at http://www.dooce.com/ .

She posted this Thursday and for the doggie blog, we have to share this funny with you. Here's the pic and her caption of her dogs Chuck and Coco.

"I take it you two would like to be left alone?"

And the best part, because we can relate with Lia who also likes to do this:
.
COCO is the female on top of CHUCK!

A Halloween Story by Lia Louise

* * *

Lia: I'll narate.

Zoe: Fine.

Lia: Ok: Every halloween Aunti Meliss and Aunti Autumn come over to hand out candy to little kids dressed up silly.

Zoe: hhho boy...

Lia: And the Aunti's bring punkins - whatever they're for...

Lia: for some reason, they spend alot of time putting candles inside the punkin to make it light.

Zoe: ...sigh...

Lia: Then comes the HALLOWEEN PARADE: This dude is a bee - I had to bark at him cuz it's so silly - a dog can't be a bee!
.

Zoe: Why don't you just stop and show the pictures?
.

Lia: No - this needs a story teller...

Lia: Then - the kid parade - but sometimes the big people are dressed up sillier than the kids.

...and when the kids reach the porch they say 'trick or treat' so that Mom or Aunti's will put candy in their buckets. Sometimes, their parents will say 'what do you say'? and the kids says 'thank you'. Too much rehersing. Just walk up to the human...take your treat and run. Silly humans.
.

Zoe: You're NOT just telling the story - you're injecting your opinion, which is totally not needed.

Lia: Then there's little girls dressed like this and Mommy and Auntie's start giggling and take their picture. I think her white gloves are scarey. I think Michael Jackson is scarey.
.
Zoe: OMG!!!!
Lia: THEN - Kinsey can't stand it anymore and wants to see what's going on outside. Now, since he's a dog, one of two things is true of this picture: Either the window is at floor level as he's clearly looking out of the window - or - he's on top of the piano. Wanna guess?

Lia: By this time, Zoe can't take it anymore and wants to be with people - so Aunti Meliss rescues her...(traitor)...

Lia: ...and then...they run out of candy, everyone comes inside as they turn off the porchlight and the Auntie's let us play some reindeer games. The End.

Zoe: (...sometimes you just have to let her and her perception of the truth run with it...)
