The Baby Bird Yesterday

This is the BIG BABY!

The baby (as big as her Mama) at 11am today.

By Noon...she had taken flight;

all that's left is an empty nest in the eaves...

Bittersweet...I guess I can get those gutters

replaced now...

Happy flying, Baby Girl...

HOWEVER:

Around 5:30 p.m., Lia and Zoe were digging at

something in the yard.  Zoe carried something in her mouth.

I BURST out the back door and yelled "DROP IT" -

which she didn't until, at warp speed, I got close to her and

her mouth opened. 

A baby rabbit the size of my thumb and some dead grass

lie in the lawn.  I wooshed the dogs into the house,

ran to get some gloves, scooped up the baby and

replaced him/her in the "nest" where they wer digging.

This girl watched and when I stood up she bolted under the fence.

ok..so I waited and waited and

then had a talk with God:

"pleeeeeease don't let us be the cause of upsetting

your miracles...make Mama come back and I promise

to take the dogs on a leash to the side yard till they

move on.

It took her about 40 minutes to return.

She "munched" her way thru the yard

She got on her nest and rustled around for awhile,

rearranging things...

...and then she settled on top of the area

the dogs had dug and where I returned her baby.

Now what?  How long?

Should I turn the back yard sprinkler system off?

What about the maintenance guys?

Can I put chairs around her area? 

Will that cause her to not return?

Anyone???

Wednesday, June 6th morning...

I logged onto facebook and here's what Bernie Berlin had posted about donations last evening:

"I just got in from doing doggie duties in the shelter & saw the donations for "Sunshine's surgery" I'm speechless... Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart!
Not only can I schedule her immediately for her surgery, but I have extr...a to put towards the two puppy mill survivors who need intensive jaw surgeries & Rosie who is heart worm positive. It at least gets one of their surgeries started while I fund raise for the others. Sunshine's was first on the list, for cancer won't wait. So Thank you again, so very, very much!!! By everyone giving a little it makes a huge difference in the lives of the animals in need. Thank you again, I am very grateful for you:) Have a beautiful nite... Sunshine says she appreciates another chance at life!!!"

It sure does feel good when you 'give' for all the right reasons.

"I'm extremely sad today... My sweet Sunshine was diagnosed with a basal cell mass tumor & it needs to be removed ASAP. This dog was used as a bait dog, starved, beaten & they removed her voice box. The best behaved dog & she has been here a few years, for it is always hard to adopt my bully breed dogs.
She is the sweetest soul, no a mean bone in her body, hasbeen a surrogate mother to every mother...less litter of puppies that has come to "A Place To Bark" & has been our educational ambassador for bully breed awareness. I will be launching a chip in tonight to raise donations for her $430.00 vet bill to have her life saving surgery. We are at full capacity as usual, getting by with the least amount of dollars as we can but this is something I can't get by doing cheaply... Please consider making a donation for Sunshine & a little prayer she stays on this earth a long while to continue being a light of love to all the other rescues here..."
