Zoe: Have you EVER read our blog title?
Lia: Yeah. Me 'n' you 'n' our pals.
Zoe: Lia, Zoe & FRIENDS. ALL animals, including human animals, are our friends. Even Cows.
Lia: Sheesh. Alright already.

Buddy
BUDDY
He left me today.
It was better for him.
At first he acted a little sad
And I was feeling a little bad.
I kept my head held high
And gave everyone information about him.
They needed to know as much as I knew
After all, he’d belong to them now
I wanted everyone to be comfortable.
Especially him.
He kept coming back to me, leaning
against my body and looking into my eyes.
I’d give him the assurances it was good and
send him back to his new family.
His new Mom, his human sisters and a brother -
They were all so excited that I needed him to feel
as comfortable as possible.
When it came time that they gave me all the
signs this would be his forever family and
be happy, it was time to pack him up and I knew I had
to “up” my game. I raised my sing-song voice to
a happy song and his ears perked up. A smile came across
his face as I sang words like outside, ride in car, let’s go– and the
children picked up on it – the excitement filled the air
And Buddy was excited to go.
It broke my heart – but it’s what Buddy needed.
He was happy.
We all loaded their car with Buddy’s things – they already had
their Buddy on his leash and in their car. As they backed out of
my drive and pulled away, Budders looked back at me.
I whispered, “I love you”.
He whispered back, “Thank you”.
